Meet Your Instructors
"If you just teach the exercise, then I have to ask you... are you a teacher or are you a conveyor belt?Pilates is a concept. We teach concepts."
~ Eve Gentry
How the Program Works

Our Teacher Training Program combines in-person instruction, independent coursework, practical experience, and mentorship to prepare students to become confident Pilates instructors. The program is divided into two modules.

Module 1 consists of five in-person training weekends focused on The Fundamentals (unique to our program; created by Michele Larsson), Mat and Reformer, complemented by online coursework, personal practice, observation, practice teaching, and required lessons with a Master Teacher. Upon successful completion of the written and practical examinations for Module 1 students will receive a Certificate of Completion and are qualified to teach Mat and Reformer.

Students who wish to continue their education and become comprehensively trained may enroll in Module 2, which consists of two in-person training weekends covering Cadillac, Chair, Ped-o-Pull, Barrels, and Magic Circle. Module 2 also includes independent coursework and practicum requirements. Upon successful completion of the practical examination, students receive a second Certificate of Completion and are considered comprehensively trained in the full Pilates repertoire.

Completion of both modules fulfills the requirements of our 450-hour teacher training program and qualifies graduates to sit for the National Pilates Certification Exam. National certification is not required to teach pilates; however, some studios may require it as part of their hiring process.

“Best Pilates studio in Pittsburgh !! The instructors at the Movement Hub are so knowledgeable, kind, and really help clients develop a deeper understanding of their bodies and the Pilates repertoire. I recently completed their teacher training and could not be more pleased with their incredible program. Sueann is a great mentor and was very supportive and available throughout the entire process. I felt extremely prepared to start teaching with a great foundation in anatomy. At TMH, you’ll learn more than just how to teach the exercises—you will be able to confidently engage with clients of various abilities while tailoring sessions with safe modifications and adjustments, as well as offer advancements. The experience that The Movement Hub instructors have is invaluable whether you are taking classes or enrolled in their teacher training program. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this studio!! If you are considering becoming a Pilates teacher, this is the best training in the city!”
